A professional genealogist who lived in Martinsburg, Berkeley Co, told
me a "Lease Deed" was recorded in W.VA. prior to the actual sale of the
land. It seems possible to me, because no earlier land records were
found, that Matthias Brandenburg actually arrived in Hampshire Co. with
a large family already in 1774. Dated 8-31-1971 Louise Myers Young.
Matthias & Hester Brandenburg, indeed, did have 5 children when they
moved to Hampshire Co, VA.
