More views of the breastworks and trenches put up by the Confederate
forces in 1864.

The Federals had to cross an open field and a creek under intense fire
from the Confederate forces in positions like these.

These pictures were taken in 2005.

In 1864 the trenches and breastworks were shoulder high.
After 141 years, they are gradually filling in with silt and leaves.
