RICHTER, Anne Gaffney

Anne Gaffney Richter, 94, died Thursday, (January 10, 2008) at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. She was born in New Britain, Connecticut on April 20, 1913, the only child of John R. Gaffney and Mary McNamara Gaffney. She lived on Lincoln Court until 1948 and on Homestead Avenue until 1973. She graduated from New Britain High School in 1930 and the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey in 1934. She was a teacher at Central Junior High School in New Britain prior to her marriage to Otto G. Richter in 1943. She later returned to teaching at Israel Putnam School and earned a M.Ed. from Central Connecticut State College in 1967. After retirement in 1973, she and her husband moved to Farmington, Connecticut where she resided until 1999. She divided her time between her children in Connecticut and New Hampshire in her later years.

She was a quiet, gentle woman who loved her family. Her husband died in 1993, and she leaves five children and their spouses: Dr. James J. and Joyce Dorian Richter of New York, NY, Mary Jane R. and Ove Kr. Myrseth of Arendal, Norway, William O. and Elizabeth Pierce Richter of Glastonbury, CT, Dorothy A. Richter and Gene Simmons of Windham, NH, and Alice R. and Michael H. Cadieux of Colchester, VT. She also leaves ten grandchildren: Matthew G. Richter, Timothy W. Richter, Christopher J. Richter, Kristian Ove Myrseth, Katrine A. Myrseth, Erik O. Myrseth, Emily A. Cadieux, Douglas J. Cadieux, Michelle A. Cadieux, and Benjamin M. Cadieux. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, at St. Patrick's Church in Farmington. Interment in Riverside Cemetery in Farmington will occur at a later date.
